Integrative Veterinary Medicine (IVM) Care

Dr. Nie integrates Holistic veterinary medicine with traditional/conventional veterinary medicine for horses, dogs, cats and other animals. He uses a unique Whole Body approach to help his patients achieve healing, optimal health and improved quality of life.

Traditional/conventional veterinary medicine evaluates symptoms (clinical signs) and generally treats with medicine or surgery to improve symptoms as the intended goal. Alleviation of symptoms is expected quickly. It is most valuable for broad life-saving public health issues as well as surgical and/or emergency/critical care intervention.

Holistic veterinary medicine broadens the evaluation of a patient beyond their clinical signs and medical history to include nutrition, genetics, environment, family relationships, stress levels, and other factors. A simple-appearing symptom may have several layers of causation. When one area of the body is ill, it can manifest in many different ways. Only when the true cause of the ailment has been uncovered is there a possibility for a lasting recovery. It is at this point that the most efficacious, least invasive, least expensive and least harmful path to healing is selected. Holistic veterinary medicine has great value in promoting optimum health and quality of life as well as helping heal chronic degenerative disease, allergies and cancer.

Integrative Veterinary Medicine (IVM) is a blending of both traditional/conventional and holistic veterinary medicine. In treating an animal, a holistic veterinarian determines the best combination of both conventional and alternative (or complementary) therapies for a given individual.

Dr. Nie helps you address and optimize several key management factors for your animal’s health. He also utilizes a number of treatment modalities to help the body use its own innate ability to heal and optimize health.
